Meeting and Speaker Schedule

January 16, 2020:  Personal Accountability with Chalmers Brothers

Program Description

This highly-interactive workshop is offered to groups who have previously participated in Chalmers’ “Leadership, Conversations and Results” workshop. Based on the same powerful foundation, this session is intended to continue the learning and take participants deeper into the nuts and bolts of creating – and sustaining – what is known as a culture of commitment or a culture of accountability.

Chalmers introduces additional “language acts” that play an integral role in enabling leaders at all levels to dramatically improve execution, teamwork, collaborative action and accountability. He also provides additional opportunities for practice, feedback, self-reflection and conversation with peers regarding real-world drivers of these changes within organizations.

It is demonstrably true that an organization’s culture shapes the way people work together. This workshop makes another equally valid claim: By focusing on how people work together – the actual conversations they have, the way they actually collaborate – it is possible to consciously and positively shape the workplace culture.

Five “core competencies” are required for organizational success today: Functional, Technical, Conversational, Relational and Emotional. Chalmers provides a new framework and a new set of tools that support participants in making dramatic improvements in their Conversational, Relational and Emotional competencies, as it is precisely in these domains that the changes needed to improve accountability are based.

Value To Members

Key topics include:

  • Self-awareness and “ground rules” for success

  • Summary/review of key topics from Leadership, Conversations and Results

  • Assertions and Assessments and their role in relationships and accountability

  • Grounded vs. Ungrounded Assessments

  • Organizations as “networks of commitments”

  • Responsible Complaints vs. Complaining

  • Managing Commitments

  • Conversational competencies and tools needed to purposefully create and sustain a Culture of Commitment or Culture of Accountability

  • The “essence of execution” for organizations of all sizes and shapes

  • Context vs. Content: What’s the difference? And why does it matter for leaders?

  • New tools that can be used today – right now – to begin making meaningful improvements in both culture and execution

Attendees are invited to also listen for ways these topics may be applied to their personal lives, as it’s clear that context, relationships, communication and achieving results together apply to us outside of work, as well.

The session is structured to contain large group, small group and pairs activities, giving participants opportunities to learn with, from and through each other. It’s highly interactive, full of humor and real-life examples that provide practical “take-away’s” and “how-to’s” for everyone.

February 6, 2020: Change Management with Ian MacDougall

Program Description

This workshop is a natural follow-up to my presentation on organization lifecycles.

Team member engagement is a fundamental expectation of the modern workforce and yet according to the Gallup Organization 67% of team members are 'not engaged'. These are not your worst employees - they give you their time but not their best efforts or ideas. Engaged team members help their organizations in three important ways:

  1. Customer relations

  2. Organic growth

  3. Profitability

This workshop will provide participants with tools that will measurably enhance the engagement and commitment of these team members - tools that have proven to be effective at getting organizations to PRIME (the optimal lifecycles stage) and keeping them there.

Value To Members

Ian MacDougall approaches this topics from an experiential standpoint. He has deployed the process being taught within his client organizations for more 35 years. The takeaway value of this workshop is considerable and immediate.

Value to Participants:

  • Avoid and/or confront complacency - the silent killer of many organizations

  • Drive change initiatives deeper into the organization

  • Build a culture of ownership for the long term success of your business

  • Engage more team members in the pursuit of PRIME

  • Maintain or regain the spirit of entrepreneurship within your organization

  • CEO’s and Founders will be freed from ‘small’ problems so that they are able to deal with bigger problems

  • Needed changes will occur faster and more predictably

April 2, 2020:  Change Management with Vered Kogan

Program Description

The only constant in life and business is change. Leaders must possess key competencies to help their organizations thrive during times of change, including finance, operations, marketing, strategy, and so on. However, mastering these skills is often not enough to overcome problems. Many change programs fail to meet objectives because they do not fully consider the human (inner) side of change.

In this workshop, Vered Kogan will teach participants why it is so difficult for people to change and how they could leverage the power of their brain to achieve better results.

Key issues covered include:

- The power of the subconscious mind

- A cognitive priming technique to reframe beliefs

- Mindfulness rituals to diminish feelings of stress

Value To Members

The participants will leave with an understanding of what prevents them and others from achieving the outcomes that are most important to them. They will learn how to manage their focus, physiology, and emotional state to best support themselves and their teams during times of change.

Biography

Vered Kogan, MBA, is a certified executive coach, Trainer of neuro-linguistic programming and Time Line Therapy™, and a Board-certified hypnotherapist. April 23, 2020:  Vistage Executive Summit

June 4, 2020:  Change Management with Chris Westfall

Program Description

Every leader faces the challenges of change.

It seems that change can take a long time, but actually: change happens in an instant. The phone rings. The loan is approved. The new hire says, "Yes". Boom. Change happens.

It's preparing for change - and coping with change - that takes time. Now, maximizing your leadership communication - and leading others through change - doesn't have to take forever.

In this innovative and interactive workshop, Members' Choice Award-Winner Chris Westfall shows you how to connect and engage with your employees, and lead your team through change. Maintaining the status quo isn't why you're in Vistage. You want to help others to face their challenges, explore new growth, and tap into proven leadership strategies. Ready to change the conversation? It's time for a new look at Leadership Language, featuring one of the top-rated speakers in Vistage.

According to a recent survey by PWC, which I discussed in my Forbes, article, 77% of executives are desperately seeking two critical soft skills: creativity and innovation. That's creativity, as in the ability to create new solutions, new opportunities and new results. And innovation, as in "the way your company will grow and face the future". No wonder these skills are in such high demand and short supply: there's never been a Vistage workshop quite like this one. What would it mean to you, if you were able to inject greater authenticity, creativity and innovation into your team?

There's an old myth that needs to be shattered, and it's this: change comes from pain. And it's cousin: change causes pain.

What if there's a way to lead through change, without the pain? Sound impossible? Maybe with some new tools, you might find new results. Maybe it's time to take the pain away.

The video below will tell you more:

Are you willing and ready to look at a new way of leading through change? If not, then this workshop probably isn't a fit for you - or your group(s)! But bringing new ideas to Vistage members is what drives engagement, dialogue and interaction. This workshop isn't a lecture, or a trip back to school - it's a personalized journey of discovery - leadership discovery - for everyone in the room.

What does your group need to discover, about leading through change - and communicating in a way that connects with your audience (no matter who that audience might be)?

Don't let transitions and market shifts slow you down - there is a way to tap into a greater connection, and turn soft skills into hard results. This workshop provides insight into communication skills - so you can inspire the kind of engagement and results you need. That's what this workshop provides: insights into inspirational leadership, in an interactive format, so you can discover what's missing. Tap into creativity and innovation, and help others to do the same. Turning a soft skill into hard results is the key to your impact as a leader. This workshop will show you how.

This unique program identifies key high growth and value opportunity business segments and then takes the process to success implementation. Clients have been able to grow at hundreds of percent when the normal segment growth is in the 5%-15% range.

Another Customer Centric proprietary concept is the “Why Do Customers Buy?” concept. This program identifies key reasons why a customer buys then applies those reasons into a Brand and Slogan management program to create a unique brand and competitive market advantage.

All of these proven success programs help a company see their product/service benefits and features from the customer’s view which brings about increased revenue and satisfied customers.
